I borrowed this recipe from @alexandracooks.
2 ⅓ cup flour
1 ¼ tsp salt
¼ cup sugar
1 ½ tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
zest of 1 lemon
½ cup grated cold butter
1 ¼ cup frozen blackberries
¾ cup buttermilk
Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat your oven to 425° C.
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, salt, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and lemon zest.
Add grated butter and work into dry mixture with hands.
Pour in berries and buttermilk and kneed with a spatula, or your hands, until completely absorbed.
On a lightly-floured surface, form the batter into a thick, flat disc about 1 ½ inches tall.
Brush the top of the disc with butter (optional) and sprinkle with brown/white sugar.
Slice the disc into 6 or 8 triangles and place them onto the baking sheet.
Bake for 20-25 minutes.
Let cool before eating.
