I borrowed this recipe from allrecipes.com.
1-2 cups of uncooked elbow macaroni pasta
¼ cup salted butter
3 tbsp flour
2 ½ cups milk
2 cups cheddar cheese (shredded)
½ cup parmesan cheese (finely grated)
salt and pepper
turmeric (optional)
paprika
Preheat oven to 350° F. Grease an 8x8-inch baking dish.
Boil pasta in a large pot of lightly salted water for 8 minutes, then drain and pour into baking dish.
While pasta is cooking, melt butter in a skillet on the stove, add flour, then simmer for 3-5 minutes.
Gradually stir in milk, then simmer again.
Stir in cheeses, season with salt, pepper, and (optionally) turmeric. You can add a bit more milk if needed.
Pour cheese sauce over pasta in baking dish and stir to combine.
Sprinkle some paprika and a bit of extra parmesan on top.
Bake for about 30 minutes.
